Red Division Predictions
Homewood-Flossmoor
Stagg
Bradley
Andrew
Lincoln-Way North
On the other side of the SWSC, Homewood-Flossmoor looks to dominate the Red Division. It may not be as easy as last year, as the Vikings have lost guards Kevin Dillard and Supo Sanni. Seniors Michael Buchanan and Jeremy Saffold will lead the team this year. Juniors Tyrone Allen and LaDon Singleton also have Varsity experience.
After Homewood-Flossmoor, Stagg looks to repeat last year's success. However, it may be hard to repeat, as they look young and will miss the size of 6' 10" Marty Strus, who will be headed off to play ball for Division-2 Lewis University. Look for Sophomore Mike Draper to sneak in for some minutes this year.
Bradley-Bourbonnais looks to improve on the 3 wins that they had last year. They are expected to have 9 seniors on this year's roster and will expect Junior Zach Wadley to come up big for them. Junior big man Shawn Seymour (6'7") will also look to help the Boilermakers. One dissapointment for Bradley was the transfer of Junior guard Tyler Ricketts to Reed-Custer, who was expected to contend for a starting position on Varsity this year.
Andrew also looks to rebound from last year's 20 losses. It will be tough, as the team will only sport 3 seniors: Matt Ouradnik, Mike Enders, and Jeff Trienzenberg. Ouradnik is an athletic forward that excels in the long jump on Andrew's track team, while both Enders and Trienzenberg will play guard. Juniors Dan Bobet and Mark Lenkiewicz are both 6' 5" and will add some inside presence for the Thunderbolts.
In their first year of Varsity basketball, Lincoln-Way North will struggle. Having no Seniors on their roster will hurt them. However, they do have great potential to be a contender in SWSC in the coming years. Intriguing freshman include twins Roymell and Roytrell Long and 6' 1" David Brown.
