SICA East Predictions
Thornton
T.F. South
Thornwood
T.F. North
Thornridge
Thornton looks to dominate the SICA East and is one of the top teams in the State. They will be led by Senior guards Jamal Gray and Darrell Robinson and forward Travell Rivers, as well by sophomore guard Jay Parker. Richie Thompson is another top senior for Thornton. Junior Reggie Smith is considered to be one of the top players in the Class of 2010 and is a surefire Division 1 prospect. However, there have been rumors of a possible transfer out of Thornton to a school in the city by Smith. Look for great things to come for the Wildcats this season, especially if Reggie Smith does not transfer.
After Thornton, T.F. South looks to lead the rest of the pack in the SICA East. It will be tough to repeat another 20+ win season, as star forward Paris Carter has graduated and guard Rajsaun Thompson has transferred to Bloom. Look for Junior Mike Johnson to be a leader on a young Rebels team.
Thornwood also hopes for a successful year in the SICA East. Seniors Arthur Wiley and Joseph Hughes look to replace Nate Green, Bryan Smith, and Glenn Lewis, who all graduated last year. Juniors Raymond Steward and Chris Lockheart also look to make meaningful contributions for the Thunderbirds.
T.F. North looks to stay on top of Thornridge in the East. They will have a tough time, due to the graduation of guards Chris Murray, Chris Chapman, and Chazmon Carney. Junior Shawn Montgomery looks to lead the young Meteor team.
Thornridge tries to rebound after a disappointing 2007-08 campaign. They will be led by Seniors A.G. Grant and Lamar Graham. Look for junior Scrocese Stevenson to be a surprise sleeper for the Falcons.

SICA South Predictions
Bloom
Rich East
Rich South
Rich Central
Kankakee
Crete-Monee
Bloom looks to dominate the SICA South this year. Transfer Rajsaun Thompson from T.F. South looks to lead Blazing Trojans this year. Thompson is considered to be one of the top players in the state and has Division 1 talent. Six-Foot Six (6'6") Senior Forward Aaron Nelson looks to follow in the footsteps of his older brother, Jawan Nelson (6'8"), who was a leader for Bloom last year and will be headed off to play for Division 1 Texas A&M Corpus-Christi. Shooting guard Brian Conway already has an offer from UNLV and will be another leader for Bloom. Look for Bloom to be one of the top teams in the state this year.
After Bloom, Rich East looks to lead the rest of the SICA South. The Rockets will be led by big man Shea Sumptor, who is getting interest from a number of high-major Division 1 teams, including Michigan, Purdue, and Illinois . Senior Point Guard Jamere Dismukes is also being looked at by some mid-major Division 1 teams and will run the Rockets' system this year. Athletic 6'5" wing Stephen O'Neal also looks to help Rich East. Junior Kashaune McKinney will also help the Rockets this year.
Although Junior guard Crandall Head will not be back next year, Rich South still looks to contend in a tough SICA South. Point guard Kendrick Morse, who has recruiting interest/offers from Iowa State, Oregon State, Drake, and Providence, will lead the Stars. Look for Junior Pierre Brooks to also make a serious contribution this year.
The last of the Rich teams, Rich Central, tries to stay on top of Kankakee and Crete-Monee this year. It will tough for the Olympians, as star guards Lorenzo Franklin and Quentin Reed have graduated, as has forward Kendall Geanef. Look for Sophomore wing James Crockett to have a breakout season.
Kankakee also has aspirations to compete in this tough division. The team will be led by Senior guard Joe Lightfoot, who is considered to be one of the best guards in the area and who will replace graduating senior Darion Collins. Guard Julian Bogan also looks to make major contributions for Kankakee.
Crete-Monee will struggle this year, due to their lack of experience. The team will be led by 6'6" Junior, Mario Redmond, who is a very raw talent, but could shine this year for the Warriors. Talented Sophomore Guard Kentrell King is one of the best young talents in the South Suburbs and will soon develop into a Division 1 caliber player. Look for Crete-Monee to stuggle this year, but they will be a force in the SICA South in 2009.

Diamond Taylor to Bolingbrook
Former St. Joseph Star and Wisconsin commit, Diamond Taylor, has transferred to Bolingbrook. Taylor is a 6' 3" guard that is considered to be one of the top ten players in the state for the class of 2009. The combination of Taylor and Division 1 prospect Troy Snyder makes Bolingbrook the pre-season favorite in the SWSC Blue.

Southwest Suburban Conference (SWSC) Predictions-Red Division
Red Division Predictions
Homewood-Flossmoor
Stagg
Bradley
Andrew
Lincoln-Way North
On the other side of the SWSC, Homewood-Flossmoor looks to dominate the Red Division. It may not be as easy as last year, as the Vikings have lost guards Kevin Dillard and Supo Sanni. Seniors Michael Buchanan and Jeremy Saffold will lead the team this year. Juniors Tyrone Allen and LaDon Singleton also have Varsity experience.
After Homewood-Flossmoor, Stagg looks to repeat last year's success. However, it may be hard to repeat, as they look young and will miss the size of 6' 10" Marty Strus, who will be headed off to play ball for Division-2 Lewis University. Look for Sophomore Mike Draper to sneak in for some minutes this year.
Bradley-Bourbonnais looks to improve on the 3 wins that they had last year. They are expected to have 9 seniors on this year's roster and will expect Junior Zach Wadley to come up big for them. Junior big man Shawn Seymour (6'7") will also look to help the Boilermakers. One dissapointment for Bradley was the transfer of Junior guard Tyler Ricketts to Reed-Custer, who was expected to contend for a starting position on Varsity this year.
Andrew also looks to rebound from last year's 20 losses. It will be tough, as the team will only sport 3 seniors: Matt Ouradnik, Mike Enders, and Jeff Trienzenberg. Ouradnik is an athletic forward that excels in the long jump on Andrew's track team, while both Enders and Trienzenberg will play guard. Juniors Dan Bobet and Mark Lenkiewicz are both 6' 5" and will add some inside presence for the Thunderbolts.
In their first year of Varsity basketball, Lincoln-Way North will struggle. Having no Seniors on their roster will hurt them. However, they do have great potential to be a contender in SWSC in the coming years. Intriguing freshman include twins Roymell and Roytrell Long and 6' 1" David Brown.
